Cliffa - I'm aware of that thread but... what is the answer to the OPs question?961 nz
Hello from NZ , my 961 stops a few seconds after starting , has anyone come across thiswww.accessnorton.com
MAK, I quote Stu Bodycote from the link I posted ..Cliffa - I'm aware of that thread but... what is the answer to the OPs question?
ie: did early 961s come out without MAP sensors? The NZ one is 2018 - so... not early.
I am interested on behalf of a friend.
So... does that mean bikes before then (2018? - or some other date? - euro4 means nothing to most of the world) didn't have MAP sensors?MAK, I quote Stu Bodycote from the link I posted ..
"Anything euro4...so around 2018ish onwards. Basically if it has abs, it'll be euro 4 and have a map sensor."
Cheers,
cliffa.
That's the way I read it Rob.So... does that mean bikes before then (2018? - or some other date? - euro4 means nothing to most of the world) didn't have MAP sensors?
Thanks Stu - but is the opposite necessarily true?Nothing to most of the world? It applies to the whole of Europe...which is quite a chunk of the world haha
As I said, all euro 4 bikes will have a map sensor...and all euro 4 bikes have abs. So if you have abs, you'll also have a map sensor. The map sensor is obviously nothing to do with the abs though, obviously. To know if you have abs, you'll have an abs warning lamp, black brake hoses with an up and over configuration on the front, and hall effect trigger discs on both wheels.
The reason I ask is that my friend's bike (2015) has "starting idiosyncrasies" - read "fussy bastard"Nothing to most of the world? It applies to the whole of Europe...which is quite a chunk of the world haha

...so - is the "later omex ecu" the first time a MAP sensor was fitted? When they updated the 961's to make them euro 4 compliant, they fitted abs and also switched to the later omex ecu for euro 4 emissions.
Would a 2016 Norton 961 euro 3 non ABS have a MAP sensor? The requirement for exhaust gas emissions was tightened under Euro4, so presumably the MAP sensor was introduced to help meet those.
Thanks for that…No...if its none abs then it wont have a map sensor.
