Low price 961

Buy it at that price you could rebuild the engine and replace all the electrics.

Agreed. That's not what's stopping me. I'm so far behind on the engine builds (and other bike projects) in the pipeline that I just don't want to add another one. I keep promising myself that I won't buy any new project bikes, but I have trouble sticking with that promise. There are way too many project bikes out there are really good prices.

Believe me or not:
I have had an accident last year. A van drove BACKWARDS into me and my CR 961 2012 while I was standing about two meters behind the van before he was backing up!
The insurance had to put the bike on a online market for accident vehicles - the complete front incl. the Öhlins was damaged - to get the value of the damaged Norton.
Someone from Poland or Hungary made a binding offer of a bit more than 7‘000 USD!
Fortunately, decision was taken that the bike could be repaired on cost of the insurance. This cost was far more than those 7‘000 USD...

Ken has the chops to sort it out if it needs it. I suspect this will be of benefit to other 961 owners.

I like the idea of a new Commando and the look of the bike, but I'm a lazy bugger when it comes to new bikes.
I just want to get on and ride indefinitely, no tools, no worries.

So what I wanna say USD 9‘800 is low! The two Öhlins on its own are new around USD 4‘000!

Brilliant. Can’t wait to follow your posts on this one Ken.

And like I said already... put my name down for all the LCR billet items that there will be.

You know it’s gonna happen !!

Fantastic!
Be nice to see some better photos of it too.

Cheers

Ask and ye shall receive. The last one shows two small vertical scratches on the seat cowl (the long streaks are just light reflections). He says those are the only scratches on the bike. It has 400 miles on it. He is the original owner. It had the exhausts and a map upgrade installed by GP Cycles in San Diego. He said he will check with Paul at GP to see if he has a newer map, and if so, get it installed before Friday. Can't ask for much more. Only other mods are different turn indicator lights. He didn't like the originals. The low mileage is because he owns something like 38 bikes, and some of them only get ridden now and then.

Damn, that's a nice red.
400 miles - not even broken in yet.
The silencers look like SBN slipons, the gen2 version with steeper upward angle.
The standard EFI map will be lean, so you'll need a remap.
If that's the only issue then you just got yourself a great f**king deal.;)

Cheers.

Looks like an Aprilia RSV Mille R and MV Agusta Turismo Veloce in the background. The guy has good taste in bikes!

Trade in value is squat. I was offered less than 8K (not selling) so I guess the owner didn't feel like dicking around. Even the header bolts look like new. What a sweet deal. Congratulations.

Yes , I agree with that Sam. What is especially delicious for me is to see a 961 get into the hands of a genuine craftsman ! A real Norton enthusiast to take the 961 to the next level ... And by the way , That Coronado garage is clean and pretty !

Now all we need is for Jim Comstock to buy a 961, and have him design a gear replacement drive for the cam chain.:D

And a big bore stroker kit, lightweight rods and pistons, Ti exhaust system, cylinder head flow improvements, custom cams, maybe a turbo kit, aftermarket programmable ECU, etc.:D

But till then, maybe I could just enjoy riding it for a while.
