I am booked into the International NOC Rally in Sweden in August..
To get to Sweden we will need to pass through Denmark.
Denmark seems to have very strict rules for cars and motorcycles regarding aftermarket exhausts.
My 961 2016 Commando has louder stubbiest fitted. Can anyone throw some light on this subject as I would be less than keen to receive a fine or indeed have my precious Norton seized and crushed.!

I very much doubt they could do anything so drastic provided you can demonstrate it’s legal in your own country (or via an MOT and road tax).

I spend a lot of time in Denmark and can tell you that as the sun starts to come out at this time of year, so do the very noisy Harley’s and also a lot of American muscle cars etc!

Maybe a local can supply more details …?

Not the full article just a taster.
Louder exhausts

Seems to me you’d have to try really hard to get into trouble, especially as a foreigner, and if you ride ‘sensibly’ in the relevant places.

Very light with the throttle hand , keep the revs down below 4000 and you should be ok . This is when the mutable Thiel exhaust would come in handy.

That’s a very good point Tony, they make a huge difference to the noise, and zero difference to power (that I could detect anyway).

Talk in Sweden is mostly about Germany, not Denmark. But maybe things have changed.

Yes , I've seen this exhaust for the new Sportster S 1250 . There is a electric solenoid operated butterly valve in the muffler and they show it in the video I watched.
I suggest Exup was only ever about noise. They claim it impetves Torque. But an improve ment in horsepower with less noise gives - what ?
It probably means they can use more rasdical port timing and stay legal.

I love it when Harley eventually comes around to modern technology.
Variable exhaust
Four valves per
Liquid cooling
USD forks
Rubber engine mounts

They are well on the way, doing good.

Nobody is buying the sportster S
And all the other Milwaukee 8 bikes are solid mounted with no modern technology

Modern technology? Quite certain there was HD models with 4 valves and variable exhaust noise a century ago.
And the flatheads had as light valve train as a DOHC engine with their 4 underhead cams.

Don't say that!! They have an ECU that now only the dealers can work on! More ways to F the independent shops...

They are still trying to give away sportsters that went unsold from 2012 and up. In 2018 they offered that buyback program because dealers still had NEW 2012 models sitting on the floor unsold. The sportster engine is actually not too bad, which is why you see them turned into street trackers.

When I had my low rider ST, I was thinking of installing a bore kit and cam. Couldn’t get a cable anywhere. Maybe it’s changed now, don’t matter, I sold it anyhow.
