Life Safety is not "politics"

Just for reference, I was without power here 50 miles west of DC for over a week during Sandy. It got hot in the house. Luckily I keep a 10KW generator ready so I used about $200 worth of gas and saw no decrease in my electric bill that was pretty much like the last months. But we pays our money, takes our chances, but I think Virginia is getting better, they're starting to put power underground. Wife has a friend in Bastrop, she now has power but no drinkable water.

Yes, Mother Nature rules and there's nothing much you can do about it.

Some people go through life without even thinking that whom they vote for might make a difference. And many are so disengaged that they do not bother to vote. There is no problem which cannot be solved, except death. Once you are there, there is no way back. So it is not worth worrying about. We have a global population which is caused by more people arriving than are departing. It is not an unsurmountable problem. Use more condoms. Two at once if necessary.

I would use two at once if it gave me twice the pleasure !!!

Eventually...

- Global warming will be fixed by no more fossil fuels
- Over population will be fixed by no more food

Make sure you have plenty of guns and ammo when that time comes

My grandchildren's grandchildren will be old before that happens.

Read somewhere “life is Politics” .... in 2004 hurricane Jaun our place lost power briefly , other side of street fed from different line was in the dark for 14 days ... lots of power cords across street during that time .... luckily the storm brought unseasonably warm temps that lasted a good long while ....

When I was young, I thought politics were irrelevant. However I learned better.
First sentence from the school curriculum: 'Politics is people'
For me, as with horses and children, it's some of the people it attracts that can put you off......

Politics, as currently practiced, has much potential for mischief in the name of personal gain, and that's all the way down to the local level. Al Gore recently said, "All American citizens should be automatically registered to vote." There seems to be some question as to whether or not all citizens should be allowed to vote. Now that's scary.

In AUS all people MUST vote, it is the law.

In NZ, one can vote if they are a legal Resident, no citizenship required.

Imagine what a difference that makes?

Do you have alternative political parties for people to vote for if they don't like the party's on the ballot paper like in the UK we used to have the Screaming Lord Stuch and the Monster Raving lunatic party ?

Do you really want voters who's only criteria for selection is- who is going to give me the biggest check/who comes from the most oppressed background/who is the most NOT like the other guy/who does social media tell me to vote for? At least taking the time to register might cause you to give SOME thought to why you're voting in the first place. Politics should be more than a team sport or campus drinking game.

Typically the people who would vote based on the outlandish criteria you have listed above ARE the ones most vigilant about registering and voting.... Go figure.
