led headlight bulb

Twenty20 H4 Compact.
Where can I purchase one. Hershey

The"165931209558" LED bulb you bought that fits your reflector is BPF.

A "Twenty20 H4 Compact" appears to be H4 (p43t) so it's not the same bulb/reflector type.

I tried out one of these

But it expired after a few hours use. It seemed to have lower contact points on the base which lead to an intermittent open- and likely caused the failure. Perhaps my headlamp socket is worn or somehow deficient.

I put a standard bulb back in which has worked fine since.

Yes, that is the bulb that I now am using, but no dip!! Very bright and good ground coverage.

Iam thinking of purchasing one of these bulbs from Steadfast cycles for $44.00 bucks including shipping. Has anyone tried one of these bulbs and are they a lot brighter than the stock ones?

I bought a LED front projection lens bulb that fits my norton factory headlight socket. It is a 12v-20v dual function (high-low beam) DC bulb. The only thing is I cannot tell the difference between the high and low beams. It is super bright, but I cannot tell any difference in brightness or elevation of the light. I contacted the vendor and they said they tested bulbs from the same stock and could see a slight difference between the high and low beam. Has anybody had any experience with this type of led bulb and if so is there a noticeable difference that can be seen between the high and low beams? I really like the super brightness and the coverage of the road. Thanks Hershey
I realize this thread is a year old, just replying to mention I just got the same bulb, no hi/lo function and concluded the two contacts in the BPF base were probably in parallel supplying a single LED array, even though it’s marketed as a replacement. I haven’t tried to ride the dark yet, which I never do anyway. I just bought it for the daylight visibility factor having switched from magneto to battery power ignition and concerns about maintaining charge and it appears to be very bright so I guess I’ll leave it in.

Known problems with all I know of except the Lucas bulbs in the red box: 1) Both light; 2) Swap back and forth at high speed; High and Low beam reversed.

Try disconnecting the high-beam warning light and see if it works OK then. If so, and you have an LED warning light, switch it to incandescent and if it is incandescent, switch to LED. If neither works leave the warning light disconnected.

Gentlemen don't ride vintage motorcycles at night. I use the brightest LED bulb I can find and ride at high beam purely as a defensive measure.
Yes I run the bestest L.E.D. myself . But I'm in the wild wild west ( Canada ) . I feel for Brits and their love of rules and regulations . Fly to B.C. in the morning , 2 wks. wild salmon fishing .

Great products, great service.
I totally agree with concours with getting in touch with Paul Goff for what you are looking for.He has always sent me the parts that work with no guesswork on my end.

A follow up-

When re-examining the LED bulb from CBS I discovered the ring flange that encircles the base had shifted, causing the bulb to move forward into the headlamp and lose contact with the base pins.

The fix was to slide the ring flange back to its proper location and affix it with a few spots of high temperature epoxy. The lamp is working just fine now and the lower amperage draw allowed me to fit heated grips to my G-15 without increasing the overall load.

I was able to kinda hide the rocker switch on the headlight ear…

couldn't tell you what brand it is- but the LED replacement bulbs (taillight and headlight) I got from Greg Marsh- are super bright and a very welcome upgrade.

After trying a bunch of LED/H4 conversion bulbs I bit the bullet and just got a regular LED “sealed” beam. Couldn’t be happier, lights up the road like a modern bike.

What exactly did you get ?
Nigel,
Like Bob said, it’s a Grote. I have one on my Gold Wing and liked it so much I put one on my Norton.
It’s a negative earth bulb so I had to use a couple of relays to get it to function properly on my positive earth system.
Fortunately I already had the relays installed, just had to flip a couple of wires around.

These bulbs are very bright and well focused. The low/hi beam works properly as well.
