As title states, having never played with the iso's, the installation on the front looks pretty straightforward, neither require the iso's themselves to be removed, simply the bolt withdrawn, PTFE replaced, shims binned and the new caps installed. The procedure for the rear is ditto the front but given the complexities of getting at the rear mounts I'm wondering if I should attempt it? Assuming I'm not withdrawing the iso's, should I expect it to be easy enough to withdraw the bolt and perform the same procedure? Any tips are appreciated, thanks. Here's the kit I bought for reference:

Well, that's good to know. I reckon if you can get the weight off the rear stud and it's not stuck in the sleeves it shouldn't be hard? Let us know. I suppose even if you have shims in the other side it won't matter, just leave them there.

When I went to put the boots on the rear, even tho the bike was partially assembled I had to tear it mostly back apart. :(

I don't get it, assuming you're not removing the rubbers themselves, should you not simply be able to withdraw the bolt... attach the new cap and re-torque?

Yes, that might be the case. I just wanted to whine about the ordeal I went through.

It looks to me that the gaiter and mount collar (25 and 43) should just slip out and be replaced with the Hemmings adjuster once the stud or bolt is out of the way. The part with the lip on it is the end cap (20 and 38) and that doesn't have to come off except to get the shims out. http://www.oldbritts.com/1971_g9.html Only problem is if the gaiter is stuck on the end cap and my gaiters are real stiff, like 40 years old stiff. The other thing is getting that threaded part on the end of the sleeve.

I'll find out one of these days. Nothing is as simple as it seems, especially on the Norton. I'm sure it will turn into a project.
