JPS front guard

Let me replace all the theories with cold, hard facts. With the original 850 front guard, my WM4 2.5 inch x 19 inch rim, with a 100/90 Avon Roadrider cleared the guard comfortably, but needed button headed capscrews to hold the guard onto the fork legs, instead of the hex nut/stud combination or the tyre simply wouldn't fit in the gap. No other issues. Originally, I wanted the first type Proddy Racer front guard to suit. However, the builder insisted that he make a stainless mudguard to suit. Despite my protestations to the contrary, he continued to insist that he would make me one. Right up to this day eighteen months on. AN used to list the one I wanted, but haven't done so for some time.

The front guard mounting bosses on the forks are 128mm apart. As I don't recall any washers/spacers on either the JPS or early type Prod Racer front guard, I can only assume that these particular guards are made to fit this gap. Don's guard is 114mm wide at this point. My tyre is 112mm wide when mounted on said 2.5 inch rim. Ergo, ipso facto, and amongst other things and all things being equal, I'm prepared to shell out for one of these guards, pretty much assuring myself that it will fit when offered up to the front end, using simple mathematics as my guide.

Now, in light of this information, and having read my posts and the answers thereto, does anybody have one of these two types of guard for sale, or know where I can get one?

After endless disappointments in the procurement of a front guard for my Norton production racer front end, I would like to hear from anybody who has either a JPS front guard or a first type Production Racer front guard, which are no longer listed by Andover Norton for sale. The first type are the ones which bolt on to the forks with a rounded, aesthetically pleasing shape, rather than the angular, later type which attaches with a hose clamp, which I don't want. Please, no "have you tried...." posts, just solid information. I have researched this over the last 18 months and I am sick to death of it.

Telling people that it is a "street tracker" and doesn't require a front guard is getting a bit tired as well. It is a standing joke with my friends and it's the first thing people notice when they look at my bike. Every time I ride in the rain or on wet roads results in a wet face with shit thrown all over my helmet, me and the front of the bike.

Please, can anyone help me?

Ken, is this what you're looking for?

Close, but no cigar.

Ken, this guard fits firmly against the standard fender mount bosses on my MK3 forks, have a look at the dimensions in the photo. I'll send it over for you to have a look at if you want.
Jeff.

Small detail: don't forget that the front disc brake hose bracket fits up inside the fender fitting to the fork legs.
It adds a few millimeters.

The fender can't get narrower than the point where it's struts contact the mounting boss on the sliders for a tire as wide as Ken's, which is why I thought the rickman fender would work since it's strut width is listed as the same as the norton one on the GFTP website, but if you look at them both you can see the rickman fender flairs outward around the slider, so it's probably going to allow a wider tire.

As I said, I realize the rickman fender is a "hose clamp" type, which Ken didn't want, but it could be riveted to a simple bracked which could be bolted up to the mounting boss, avoiding the hose clamp fastening look... Obviously it's an asthetic issue to get the look he wants, but does the rickman fender really look that bad? It's smooth, like the production racer fender, rather than having the angular look, like the fender I use on my commando. Anyway, I was trying to be helpful... not be annoying... if that's possible 8)

Jeff.

That appears to be the one I want. Where did you get it? Do you want to sell it?

Not with the Prod Racer. Not an issue.
