JCC Piston oil ring width - Narrow or wide

After receiving nil replies to my query with the UK Hastings agents and searches online of UK classic parts dealers also drawing a blank. I would be very surprised if any of the UK retailers of Hepolite pistons are actually sold with Hastings rings as claimed, if they are why don't they sell the appreciated Hastings ring sets? So what is fitted to Hepolites, as I bet JCC would not say OK, we will import and fit Hastings rings instead of ours and still sell them really cheap to you.

Wassels would certainly not inspect and open every pack to remove the JCC rings and put Hastings rings in the box - their stock comes straight in and straight out - to return profit. As some of you may know, and found out - their stock does not get checked.

Thankfully I have found some in the states as it seems that no one here in the UK stocks them, but claim to sell them with their Hepolites - what bullshit!

There could be some legal reason why Wassell doesn't use the Hastings trademark in the UK.
The Hastings name could well be a selling point in the USA but would mean little or nothing to the average British punter...."Hastings? Who? You mean....they're not Hepolite!"

No doubt Wassell can buy the pistons without rings the same as other JCC piston suppliers. Buying pistons with rings and then changing the rings would be costly and how do you know they are actually boxed in Taiwan?

Hepolite piston rings are premium quality and manufactured in the U.S.A.

As my earlier post

pistons / ring sets supplied in Hepolite packing will have Hastings rings the piston ring wallets are a real give away ( hastings manufacturing usa )

Madnorton if you bother to speak to Wassell they will confirm they re pack the Hastings rings in to Hepolite boxes in the Uk

Sure have, spoke to the trade contact, sadly delivery of rings is at least 6 weeks away. Seems strange why the UK Hastings dealer / importer did not even reply indicating to try Wassels.

I now have a set of Hastings 7007 020, and have noticed the oil rings are of the narrow type, but seem to have a wide 'spacer' lug on the expansion ring to compensate - is this normal, do Hastings supply wide and narrow oil control rings for the Norton pistons? or is it one size fits all.

Many thanks for all the help, I will get a piston from the bikes owner this week and check them against the groove. Having spoken to many including wassel - here is what I found -

Hepolite pistons retailed in the UK are sold with Hastings piston rings.

Wassels can supply Hastings rings if and when they have them - as advised by Wassels

New Hepolite rings sold without pistons have a one piece oil control ring according to one outlet this morning - interesting!

It looks like Hastings only supply 'one width fits all' oil control rings, as the 7007 series only has the narrow style ring, - can't see an alternative in the Hastings inventory.

The 'so called' Hastings rep in the UK did not even bother responding - nice one.
