D day finally arrived after I got the last bits sorted, prepped the bike as best as I could and she started on the 3rd or 4th kick.

Running in the cam - this was the most nerve wracking 25 minutes of my life, but the oil pressure never dropped below 35psi.

No leaks, didn't need the fire extinguisher, and nothing blew up on me! Only issue encountered was that the timing side plug ran too lean... but that was quickly traced to the needle position being lower than the primary side. Still have to test ride her, cant wait!!!

Sounds like it was built by Singer and just as smooth. Gonna be a great one.
BTW..I like where you put the horn. I need to follow along on your lead because my mounting looks crap.

one question , i have Norvil belt primary , how much play should there be at rest ? .yours is bouncing around ,

Depends who you ask, but too tight is not good for the mainshaft. I set mine loose enough just so it doesn't hit the cases, with the Maney kit this come out to about 30mm free play when cold. That said, the clutch hub never got close to running temps during this run period, so the apparent slop is cold slack

missed it, i got mesmorized by the left exhaust pipe oscillation. good spot for the horn. with the oil tank up there too, not a lot of real-estate to park any of the critical items, fuse box, relay stack, shindengen R/R and signal flasher

I've heard you should JUST be able to twist the belt 90 degrees at mid-span for proper tension.

Is the belt primary drive left without an outer case? I'd be concerned about stuff (feet, fingers and trousers) getting caught when the engine is running.

My Goldwing uses gear belts on the OHC drives. First time I watched them run w/o the covers I was certain they were too loose, but then noticed spring tensioners. Visually the belts look loose running under load even at proper tension. Run them tight and they shall wear rapidly ruining the day. Follow installation instructions. Just my $.02.
