IS THIS A GOOD IDEA

We (the entire free world) need a reset.

BRING
MANUFACTURING
HOME
.

This has so many, positive, wide ranging benefits.

We can make iPhones/Galaxies right here. Sell for the same price. And be profitable.
And EVERYTHING else.

Thereby NOT be beholding to the will of socialist tyrants.

A couple of years ago your country was energy independent and could supply the world ..and then wtf happened...
The consequences of those decisions effects us down here everyday ...especially at the pump....
Absolutely bring back manufacturing to its country of origin..

I agree 100%. However, we are cheap and don't want to pay the price. We'll do about anything to save a few pennies. For instance, cutting our trees down, shipping them to China to be made into lumber then buying the lumber. Or worse, Fairfax County, VA buying manhole covers from India when VA has a steel mill (one of the last in the country) and there are US manhole cover manufacturers.

Read it and weep https://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/statistics_inmate_offenses.jsp

According to the Bureau of Prisons, 45 percent are in prison for drugs, which is close enough to half for me.
That's double the next category, which is weapons offences, and four and five and six times the rate for common offences like immigration, sex crimes and burglary and so on.
Drugs are big business for the prisons industry.
I wonder why that one didn't come up in my google search?

Point taken.

I think it was Einstein who supposedly said that doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Describes the War on Drugs to a T, after 60 years of doing the same old same old over and over and the problem continues to get worse.
As bad as our attempts to criminalize drug use have gone, NOT criminalizing them is NOT a "more effective" or more humane answer, QUITE OBVIOUSLY.

Would be nice.
Phones would be three times as expensive if manufacturers had to pay workers a fair wage.

I say we abolish iphones, galaxies and all other useless tech gadgets and focus on building the things we need. Food, energy, tools, community and housing.

I'll be pressing my personal reset button soon.

Sadly, true.

Someone said we could make them here just as cheap; I don't see how, at current wage levels, and having to import materials WE used to produce...

We have been conditioned to believe that it would "cost too much" .

The reality is, SEVENTEEN SEPERATE LAYERS OF PROFIT, at 100-300% markup, by people/companies that feel entitled to it, just for waiving to something on way by and ADDING NO VALUE to the product.

THAT is where the cost is.

We don't need all that multi-Billion dollar Verizon ad campaign.

true enough. However, we already have MILLIONS of unfilled positions with MILLIONS laying about on the dole, how is THAT going to change?

Put them to work.
In the SKF/Timken bearing plant. We rebuild. Here.

And in the MOOG suspension component plant we open here.

And in the Maytag, Whirlpool plant we open here.

And in the EVERYOTHERDAMNEDTHING plant that we open here.

I have had the very great honor to work (🧰⚙️🔧) in hundreds of manufacturing plants, all throughout USA, Canada, some of Mexico, Europe & Japan.
I have watched them be closed.😞
I have had to decommission machinery in preparation to send it elsewhere.😡 So greed could be fed.

I have visited the Peace Museum in Hiroshima. 😢

Despite the sarcastic remarks from some candyass snot-nosed hipster punks,🤡 I am qualified to speak on the topic.

Our great nation, made up of talented craftsmen who emigrated here for OPPORTUNITY, bringing with them SKILLS & WORK ETHIC are a marvel to behold.

CUT OFF the funding to the layabouts, and, like the rubber bisquet song, they go hungry. Then, they will be motivated to work, and get paid, and buy food.

Bloody well said ! and the same for our once great country.

Not obvious at all. Plenty of research and history shows that it reduces the harm done by drugs. Here is just one example of many. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2072016/ . Note what they say about the decriminalisation of heroin in the Netherlands and resulting reduction of new addicts to almost zero.

The $200,000 a year it costs to keep each prisoner in prison can be much better spent on rehabilitation and treatment.

Plus, when their product becomes legal, it puts the criminal gangs out of work supplying it. Win. Win.
