Oh we've been getting boat people for decades too. This present govt claims to have stopped the boats. But it looks like it'd be more accurate to say that they're subsidising the People Smugglers to not smuggle people.

The funny thing is, visa overstayers have been coming on aeroplanes for decades, and then they have an amnesty and are welcome to stay.
In the hundreds of thousands.
A few hardy souls in boats flee countries in terrible strife, pay through the nose for the privilege, and they end up in concentration camps.
Can anyone spot the anomaly here ??

Not to get political or anything...

Currencies go up and down, just got to make the best of it while it lasts.
Or play 'hedge the currency', and put aside a few for a rainy day ?

Aussie bike prices largely reflect the previously low value of the A$ too,
so should be used to it by now. ?

Politics, religion or sport are all fighting subjects for front bars of pubs.
Maybe this thread has begun the degeneration to forum PUB status since there has been zero recent Commando references.

Back on the subject, things are going to get even worst as the retailers in Aus want the GOV to take the $1,000 fresfhold from things we buy online from overseas, they are planning to drop it to only $20 and that will be over a 250% increace in what we will pay then there proberly be GST also added, we already pay to much here because of greedy retailers bring in cheap imports and selling them with huge profits, the rich get richer and us poor souls get poorer and I bet most of these rich retailers are members of this GOV party, I am just glad I got all my improvements for my Norton when I did.

Ashley thats pretty much what is happening across the ditch in NZ, we pay import duty and GST on anything bought online from overseas from $400 NZD and above, plus they add GST to the freight and documentation costs!!
Sometime you get lucky and they let a few items through duty free although it is getting tighter.

thats why I ship "low value" items to certain countries that have high import taxes , like some S.E.Asian countries, and some Euro + UK as well.
my customers are usually happy to return for more biz

The GOV thinks we have had it to good for to long now, but they are sure making it hard for us none rich poeple and now after retiring from work things are even harder, most of these pollies were born with a silver spoon in there gobs and have never worked hard in their whole lifes and just look at the statements coming out of our beloved treasures mouth these last few weeks, no wonder this country is in so much of mess.
Glad the beer fridge still has some beer in it, what time is it.

That 'beloved treasurer' married into wealth, so much for any advice he gives on anything...
Plenty folks wondering how he got that gig.
Definitely beer time....

Back to the subject at hand.
