I was wondering if any of you has ever used the Iridium Spark plugs on a Commando Roadster 750 and if you would suggest them..

With positive earth, does not the spark go the wrong way, defeating the purpose of the very fine electrode? I have tried them and they fouled up the same as my NGK's in my Norton (too rich at idle/ no choke slides fitted). I use them in a Hayabusa engine and in my V6 Quad cam car and they are superb.

thank you: it seems you are all suggesting the Iridiums as a bonus for my Commando

I own a 750 Roadster year 1973 (but not a combat):
what kind of NGK Iridium would you suggest?

Great Plugs but if they have an "R" in the number don't use resistive plug caps.

BP7EIX, with or without R depending on plug caps. B7EIX should also work fine.

Thank you Steve
Do you think the NGK BP7EIX would be the ultimate solution also for a Bonneville T120R year 1967?

The P stands for projected electrode which is no problem on the Commando with flat topped pistons, but you need to check on a T120R as the piston top is domed and may hit a projected electrode. B7EIX is the non projected version.

Do them come as a non-resistor plug? I can only find them as BPR7EIX. Which by the way work great. Better cold weather starts, stronger idle, will take a larger gap (.028" instead of .025") and less prone to fouling. They also seem to like more fuel. I had to enrich my idle mixture and raise my needle.
Boyer Analog
PVL coils
Solid SS wire
Plain rubber plug boot
31 degrees ignition timing

I have looked several times for the non resistor versions and never found one, so they may not make them. If they do I would prefer them on my analogue Boyer equipped bikes but I do need them for the 2 digital ones.

I ran iridium plugs in both my Mk3 and my Victor for several years. Then, as, I believe, now all iridium plugs were resistive and required a non-resistive cap.
Lately I've gone back to conventional NGK plugs (with a resistive cap). No problem with the iridiums, I just honestly couldn't tell any performance difference between the two technologies, and I can make three change-outs of my conventional plugs for what a single set of iridiums cost me. Plus, and this is a big one, the resistive NGK caps have more attractive graphics.

Running NGK iridiums and have done for years with NGK resistive caps and copper leads - no problems, easier starting. Now I'm using a wire wound lead with no resistive caps, seems to run better at lower revs when filtering the traffic.

I guess not, the plugs in my toolbox are BPR7EIX. I have run them fine, and they are good to have as a fallback should I have any starting issues...

The plugs in my motor are ND IW27.....cooler iridiums for race use....have used the NGK equivalent of these too....all good
