This race was run over a single lap on Wednesday; the winner was M. Rutter beating John McGuinness by 1.6 seconds.
What is really amazing was that John McGuiness did an unofficial 109 mph practice lap from a standing start last week, this is truly amazing considering it is faster than Hailwood’s 108 mph lap on the 500 Honda in 1967 :!:

Stop press!!; Rutter did do officially a 1.9 mph lap;
“And just as a further proof that these electric bikes get better and better by the year, Rutter managed to lap the TT around 5 mph (8 km/h) faster than he did last year, recording an average lap speed of 109.675 mph (176.467 km/h). McGuinness' best lap speed on his Mugen Shinden Ni was 109.527 mph (176.228 km/h), really close to the Czysz, but just not enough.”

I watched a few minutes of the replay on Velocity last night; those modern electric bikes are FAST!

Range is creeping up to very decent levels, I just wonder how long a re-charge takes, and is it a simple 110 plug?

They have 240volt plugs this side of the pond

Not very convenient for taking an afternoon ride and needing a charge to get home...

Newer battery technology is not far away. Quicker charging and longer lasting. We'll see it in our lifetime. Just in time for some seriously fast wheelchairs!

We'll probably see it by next weekend, judging by how fast the Chinese are taking up new technology and getting it into production...

I was thinking more like this:

Thats the difference between something ready to go into production, and something thats ready to soak up some r&d $$... ?

I watched that too. Impressive stuff for sure. I don't know if I could stand the sound, or the lack there of. Might have to have some real nice motorcycle sound recorded and hooked up to the throttle somehow...
