INDIA MADE TANKS

Sometimes there is no choice.. People on the odd occasion have a metal tank for sale want the world for it and there are those who can spend the world on it. Hence the $5-800 tag for tanks......... I looked at tanks from India to Oz @ $600ish.. and the chances are sus on quality.. If it was down the road and you could go look you might spend that money .. maybe..

Probably really only cost $30 to manufacture in India and the production workers there get $2 a day :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x Oh well thats business....

Fibreglass cars can be fabricated to meet ISO's, fibreclass fuel tanks can also meet ISO's.. I reckon there is a market out there for repo fibreglass tanks.. Yes its a smallish market and a bit of R & D .. $350 a tank + post and your laughin.. Kevlar works the same...

Take a look at this thread with pictures of the steel tank I got

steel-fastback-tank-from-india-t17359.html

Don't buy a painted tank as you will likely be disappointed with the finish. Get the tank leak tested before you paint it.

I think that unless you go down the very expensive alloy tank route the Indian made tanks are the ones to go for.

The Norvil alloy Fastback tanks are not the right shape, my Indian made tank is a better match.

I don't think that anyone makes Fibreglass tanks that are proof against ethanol, unless sealed with the correct sealant for Fibreglass.

Don`t buy it!
I ordered one for my Norton Commando Roadster, it was a piece of shit in my opinion.
I do not expect it to be a 100 percent perfect copy but this one was not even close in appearance, twisted and assymetrical.
I got it send back but it cost me some money anyway.
Maybe thera are examles that are good enough, not mine for sure.

Anyone bought a petrol tank or side panel from India as advertised on ebay? What sort of quality are they?

Yes and posted about it ncluding multple pictures, under $300 posted for a Interstate tank.
Bargain now it seems.
Thanks again to partsparadise51

Sten,
It would be nice to know which vendor you used.

I picked one up for a couple hundred, delivered....it's serving its purpose right now...but it doesn't have the lines of a factory issue....more square...it's finish was ok, for the $$ I'm happy. I needed one to get me around while looking for a original steel tank.

Just my .2 cents

It was a while back now but i remember it being Enfield India, i bougth it unpainted.
Awfully rusty, big and ugly tunnel against the steering head and not that smooth rounded shape like the original.
If you just want a petroltank, ok but i don`t think it was even close in appearance.

I also ordered a Roadster tank from Partsparadise51 and am very happy with it. Since then have purchased a set of side panels from the same place and modded them to fit my mk 111.

The Interstate tank was around $212 if I recall correctly and they have gone up in price quite a bit since then.
No doubt whoever manufactured the interstate tank also did the Roadster item, key word being pressings.
Partsparadise51 it seems chooses their suppliers wisely.
