Yes certainly flywheel mass assists or allows low idle. Nortons have heavy flywheels in the scale of engines so should idle down good. With the cam lube/wear alert I will limit the intervals but will attempt to see how low she can go just for the heck of it.
HIt and miss engines are about all flywheel inertia, only firing every half dozen rotations to keep on churning. They are addictive sonic sources too bit not the rhythmic of steady state combustion - how ever induced.
