It is done. Norton starts and run beautifully.

Good to hear that!

Correction

Please note that on page 1, I said that:
The main power wire between the battery negative and the ignition switch (terminal 1) should be the Brown/Blue wire ('UW' on the wiring diagram*)?

As the wiring diagram code for Brown/Blue is 'NU', not UW !

Hopefully, my mistake didn't cause too much confusion?

No, no confusion.

The power to the ignition switch was magically solved upon the recommendation to attach together the two green/brown wires that I had
mistakenly cut while "tidying up" the wiring mass lying on the front of the rear fender.
This restored power to the switch, and then an examination of the wiring forward of the switch found a poor boyer ground plus virtually no
engine to frame ground.

Paul has graciously sent me appropriate wiring diagrams. I MAY decide to take on the installation of a kill switch on the left handlebar control.
Right now, I am thrilled to have solved these problems with all the great help here. No way I could have done it without you all.

Great, (although I hope you did actually mean 'Brown/Blue' wires? as you said on page 1?)

I thought that as well but the bike is up and running so he must have (anything green is for the indicators) :D

Certainly the Green/White and Green/Red wires. And "Green/Brown" (actually Brown/Green) is for the lighting circuit.

Hi yes but I meant Green + another colour (Green/White, Green/Red and plain old Green) not Brown and another colour...Honest.

Well I thought that's what you meant, however I did feel that some of our members who may not be quite so 'wire wise' as others, and who may not understand that the main wire colour is given first, followed by the tracer colour, and so misinterpret it to literally mean anything Green.

I know I should be clearer will do so in future especially since many bike owners who will do most of the work on their bike do not feel comfortable on electrics same as many boat owners
