Hi All,

I'm Rob - the tech guy from Norton in the UK.
Somehow my email address has already found it's way on to the forum - so that goes to show how active you all are and how much you all communicate - great stuff.

Anyway, I've joined the forum to show a presence from Norton, I'm aware that some of my existing and old colleagues have joined and some, including Simon Skinner, still post from time to time.

I've been with Norton for 3 years, initially working on production, but moving in to technical support and dealer training, as well as having supervised production here too.
Now I have moved on to warranty/parts/technical.
I've been brought up around classic british bikes, and I'm passionate about all things 2 wheels - particularly british, particularly Norton.

I'll be happy to help wherever I can - but I have to say that I won't have the time to religiously check the forum, so please bear with me. I'm also not going to hijack threads, or get in to tittle-tattle with anyone.

Probably not much else to say for now!

Rob

Hi Rob,

Great to have you on board. Thanks for taking the time.

Welcome Rob and very glad to have another factory expert on the board - Alan

Hello Rob, nice to have factory folk to chat to now and then. How is the parts dept set up to supply service kits, such as engine/transmission oil services, to individual customers?

Hi Rob - thanks for the rear fairing frame advice. Hope you've got your flak jacket at the ready.....

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome and thank you Rob for joining our 961 cult... Sorry, club. If you find the time to read 961 threads you will hopefully see a passion for the machine and the sometimes frustration with OEM support. I drove 1000 miles round trip in the US to buy my 961 second hand (260 miles). Sometimes reading this forum makes me feel like the pioneer Davie Crockett right before the Alamo. Any support you can provide this group could be huge to Norton's continued success. I'll get off my soap box now. Again thanks for joining.

Welcome Rob, and brave of you to join! I say that as there are people on here who have long standing issues and have been rather ignored.

Gents, I’d like to suggest that we give Rob a fighting chance by using this forum to share and solve actual technical issues that we have. That’s where Rob can help, I doubt he’d be able to explain, least satisfy, historical reasons for lack of coms, dealership networks, etc, etc.

Let’s hope that A) we don’t frighten him away and B) he doesn’t leave Norton! It would be nice to have you actually stay around on here for a while Rob !

We stock all of the service items, as you would expect - but we can't send oil. Generally I would prefer people to take their bike to an authorised dealer for service, but I know that isn't always practical, so if you need any items please email warranty@nortonmotorcycles.com, we can arrange payment and get the bits out to you.

Agreed! I can't do an awful lot about what is behind us, but hopefully I can assist moving forward.

Rob,
Many thanks, I'll start putting my shopping list together.

Thank you Rob for sending the Cam Shaft and other parts so quick. I can attest that Rob has certainly been helpful. Hopefully soon - someone will take over Canada and we can get more bikes in the country.

No, I have some seals on order with ohlins, and we have had them before, so I'm not sure where that has come from!
You do, however, need the correct ohlins tools to do the job and they aren't cheap!

I will let the forum know when our new stock comes in.

Yes Good Point.. Can you have a look at getting some parts available for the USD and RWU forks ? Seals and such thanks , you show no part numbers !

If that is to me, then All this comes from before you were involved. They have placed you in the one dept that frustrates almost all 961 owners. Hopefully this frustration will now end. So far you have been very helpful according to my dad. Who is very pleased with your extremely fast service. He was in disbelief when the package arrived. I can assure you, before you, most times there is never a reply to an email or things are on back order for months. And when there is a good guy who knows what he’s doing, within months he/she gets transferred out of that dept. and back to bullsh!t.

Looking forward to hearing things are now different. And according to Simon, you are the most knowledgeable person at Norton. So its fantastic you’re in this position.

PS - please don’t leave.

Hi Rob. Can you check out the USD Forks thread and hopefully post up the part numbers for RWU forks and rear shocks for others for future reference. Please and thanks. If you cant figure out how to post images you can email to me and i will post it. Thanks in advance.
