I bought a new Lucas headlight bucket to replace a pitted one. I've been thinking it may be easier to squeeze the wiring harness into the new grommets before putting them into the bucket. Maybe run string around the grommet groove and install like an old time car windshield. Anyone with experience or advice on best way to proceed?

That is the way I did it, I used P80 rubber lube around the grommet and it went on with no trouble.... the old string option may work, but it's lube that's the real must

Dumb question - which direction do the grommets go in? They are bowl shaped, so assumed they go in with the bowl facing the inside of the headlamp shell, the other side slightly bowled outwards.

<I have it right, thanks for the PM!>
