73 -850 Ikea norton.

inspecting the threads in the frame tube where the head steady rubber buffers attach, rusty and loose, so clear case of vibration wearing out the steel thread.

options?

1. toss the norton steady and install Comnoz version, would allow installing unc/unf timesert. but no longer offer any load carrying capacity...

2. any source for 5/16-26 tpi timesert or helicoil?

3. has anyone used other source of the rubber isolators with unc/unf threads?

If you use my headsteady you can just drill out what is left of the threads and install a long bolt with nut to fix it. That is how the headsteady is on my bike. Jim

The thread size in the frame for the head steady is 5/16-24. You should able to find a helicoil kit in this size at your local auto parts store.

+1
Mcmaster Carr is one good source. Machining tool supply shops would be another target.
Ask around your local Norton Club Members and they might have what you need. You never know. Talk to some local Machine shops and they would probably point you in the right direction.
