Where who sells a Hasting set of rings for OEM Norton pistons?

My pistons and rings look good at standard bore and would like to continue with 3 piece oil.

I was in touch with Hastings rings about a month or so ago inquiring about the same thing. The short answer is Hastings no longer manufactures rings for Nortons, and has not done so for a number of years. Any Hastings oil ring rings sets (with the 3 piece oil control rings) you find will be new old stock.

So are the Andover current std 77mm rings offering not a good choice?
Looks like a cast iron oil ring

I find MAP cycle is offering Hastings, Emgo, Grant ring sets for 850 std.
Emgo price - $39
Grant price - $29
Hasting price - $75

Emgo and Grant show 3 piece oil
Hastings shows 1 piece oil

I see at Steadfast standard 850 Hastings rings for $98

Bonneville shop shows a set of std 850 for$116

How are these Hastings offerings being made if Hastings has told customer call ups that "We don't make Norton rings"?
Are the pictures fake?

Probably just stock that is around , don't get hung up on "rings for a norton" just look for the bore size and the groove width , or bore size + the oversize, I don't know the width for norton , but VW for example , 77mm is common that might be in a 4mm groove width , there are Grant 3 piece sets ,also there are ring groove spacers available, easy when you do ring jobs all the time . There are most likely other engines that share that size .

The Bonneville shop had a huge inventory of them - almost gone now and they keep raising the price as their inventory dwindles. the last 850 set I bought from them in Dec 2020 was $54 delivered. That set had been in stock for 6 years according to Hastings! The set I bought from them in Oct 2017 was $34 delivered.

Hi,
What does the smart money say about the pros and cons of the various types of oil rings, that is single piece, single piece with expander ring and multi ring versions?
Are they designed for different applications?
Alan

There is no consensus on this topic. Read this as a primer:

Aren't they just older design oil rings ? .the 3 piece or CX3 as I've known it has been around for a while , and thinner rings are better to free up power , some diesels use one piece oil rings but not pain cast , and there are some real tight type rings called cord rings I think .
