No need to be so testy Pete. Am not rewriting any book, I dont know enough. Just thinking about following up on what Jim said.

If I leave it off, I will certainly give it a long go round our country "block" a few times first, and see how it goes. Hooking it back up wouldnt be traumatic.

Besides, I keep a length of wire in the tool pouch anyway for the unforeseen.

Sorry, i'm just worried about you. If I didn't care I wouldn't say anything. Indifference is the worst.
 
Ended up grounding with a looped wire to the head steady tower. I converted the bike to a single point ground years ago, and have this area right above where the stock head steady bolt attached to the frame. Not expecting any problems moving forward.
