Greetings All,

I've been following all the fun and games here for quite a while, so thought I'd better introduce myself, Rob from the UK here. As far as Nortons go I run a 74 Interstate and a 59 Dominator. Meanwhile my brother runs a 57 Dommie and 72 750 Commando, at this moment he's tooling around the South of France on it, lucky sod.

This being a commando forum here's a couple of shot from last summer of my Commando with Mick and Angie Hemmings. Mick did a big overhaul/update of it for it's previous owner back in the early 90's.
Greetings

Cheers Rob.

Hi Rob!

How cool that both you and your brother have older Featherbeds and Commandos!

And what a beautiful Mark3 Interstate you have.

Welcome to the forum

John

Thanks guys,

Yes, it's my brothers fault I got into Nortons. After a bicycle accicent in my teens I avoided bikes for a long long time. Soon after I passed my test about 10 yrs ago my brother let me loose on his lightly tuned hi-comp 750, which was a bit mind blowing at the time! It was on about 10:1 comp and I could feel my pelvis and spine rotating against each other as I kicked it over! It went like stink with gobs of clutch slipping torque , but I loved the way you could leapfrog queues of traffic by only using the throttle - twist to pass, roll off and use the massive engine braking to slot into the gap in front, - no gear changing or braking neccessary!

Mine is a nice low mileage one, in original unrestored condition, rather than ultra shiny. Of course the colour scheme is a throwback to the glory days, but I think's a nice one too.

Cheers Rob.

Howdy

Smashin photos mick and Angela's service is first rate, pure Monty Python at times also. I had sent parts to them for repair and phoned up to see if they had got them. Angela said she hadn't got them, she then shouted to mick " going to nip across to the wooden leg shop and see if Jimmy's parcel is in". Priceless !

Happy days

Correction. It is not a pic of you. Nice bike and photo spot though. Stay young and ride on.

Welcome! I just joined myself. Beautiful bike!

Welcome to you also Dave.
You'll unlikely find as much information about Commandos anywhere else.
The archives are also extremely useful for chasing information.

Welcome:
Did they make 74 Mk3 in the UK? I think all US Mk3 are 75s.

Ugh, every club and list and forum I've ever had contact with always claims they are the best but this ignores and puts down decades of those before this forum such as Capt Norton Notes and NOC-UK archives and British Iron and INOA and Old Brits forum but accessnorton is most active with active famous Commando focused Nortoneers all in one place this last decade. If bored for bigger scope on prior wisdom's and lore start here for about a years worth of reading to catch up to speed on.

Also must get initiated by these classic's to take in... Its a mean joke we pull on our forum owner with a subject line to suck him in again to explode back with
"NOT AGAIN PLEASE STOP IT!"

Thanks for all the additional welcomes!

Audblue - agreed Angie is a smashing lady and very witty too. I would say that even if I didn't know she reads this forum, - Hi Angie, say hello to Mick!

Phil Y - I'm not worthy!

Aceaceca - I think I introduced my self and then presented two photos without any pretence that they contain my image, but no worries, its not a big deal.

Grandpaul - Hola! you'll remember watching my Dommie being recomissioned on brtibikes. I do like your custom commandos!

Jaydee - Yes I stand corrected, of course its a '75 march 75 to be exact, not sure wher I got 74 from..talking of which I keep saying my dommie is a 59, when it's actually Nov '58 , so i guess my nonsnese averages out..

Hobot - same goes as for Phil Y - I am not worthy!

Regards,

Rob.

Settle down hobot. Let Rob find his feet.
He hasn't even been offered a cuppa yet.

Hey Mark,

Yes Britbike and Ben Gradlers Manxman page, Have you invested in a Dommie yet? I was out on mine today, just put a 21th gbox sprocket on it and enjoying the longer legs. I love my Dommie.

Cheers Rob.

No I haven't bought a Dommie Rob. I've been read the riot act a few times about buying any more bikes. So it's not going to happen unless I let a couple go.
I'll just have to be happy with what I've got.....for now.
