Good for nuthin fuel light

Since I was having trouble with that digital Trip meter resetting back to zero, had to rely on the fuel light. It blinked a few times when I turned the key on, bit it occasionally does that when I have a full tank too. So I looked into the tank. Looked like half full. Took my ride. Went about 40 miles, ran out of gas on a small bridge. (It sure LOOKED like a half tank). NO FUEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I did however, managed to remember the ODO reading when I filled up. Guess what? I get 149 miles to a tank full to empty. :roll: Wish I would have remembered that when I set off. Also, I've ridden 120 miles on 2.8 gallons before. So, long story even longer, the fuel light sucks. Since I've installed a new battery, the digital display has been reliable. Not the switch after all. I kind of thought it was low voltage making it go bonkers. The only other time its done that was when the batter was weak from sitting at the dealership untended for 7 months. Geeze. I feel like I'm 19 again, running out of fuel on the old Bonny. sigh Good Samaritan had a full gas can. Helped a brother biker out.

Good story. I always stop if I see a bike pulled over to ask if all is ok.

I always stop, it used to be such a mortal sin not to! Now a days with cell phones people think its not as important. You just proved them all wrong Curtis!

There is a very easy fitting to resolve the problem with the flickering fuel light. May be the patch wire from the factory may help. You just have to connect the corresponding relais directly to the battery. It is the first time though I heard that the fuel light didn't show up...

That was good for a chuckle. Sorry it was at your expense. I always stop for a Biker in Distress. I actually tipped my Bonny over to spill fuel into a can we found on the side of the road. Not fun, but it cleaned up ok and he got to ride to a gas station from the highway. About 15 bikes past me without even turning their head. Most hit the gas. My fuel light starts to flash like a warning sign when I turn on the key with less than half tank. Sometimes it just flickers a little with a full tank. I've brought that to my dealers attention in the past, but they had bigger fish to fry and ignored it. Having my digital display back will help greatly. Thanks for the tip, Ralphi. So, long story even longer, I've only averaged 33 mpg on that tank full. Down from 40. With the hotter coil, wires and Iridium plugs. Been also averaging 4800 rpm, so, ............to be fair. BUT...ran great.
