I quit foolin' around and got some (actually) new Amals about a month ago from RGM, and them mated them up with British Cycle's even newer heavy solid brass/chrome-plated slides. I gotta tell`ya --`Greatest thing since sliced bread... and those slides are just slicker`n [unpleasant slippery material].
This afternoon I pulled the slides up & out [oh the joy] in order to drop the needle clip to the middle position, and in so doing noticed that the insides of the slides had maybe ~1/8 cc of gas sitting in the machined-out depressions. Now I've never seen gas inside the slides before in all my years of fooling w/ these things -- or maybe I just never noticed it in the old potmetal versions. (But it really shows up against mirror-bright chrome.)
Anyone else notice this effect?
