How you get away without a front fender? Cops over here in NSW would defect you off the road in a heart beat. LOL WA cops must be more lenient LOL.
Looks great. :D
Still not got my engine back together, still in pieces in the OL's walk in robe. Your head is all fitted out ready to go on with Jim S, valve train. Been held up with the Shovelhead bobber I been cobbling together, but the Commando is next on the list.

What cops? You never see any on the road over here. We have de facto cops, as in, speed cameras. I've been promised the guard for about three months. "Next week" isn't even funny anymore.

Years ago I knew a couple of guys who went to a bikie party near Fremantle. About 3 a.m. they were speeding up the highway to Perth when a cop stepped off the side of the road waving a torch. So they swerved at him making him jump for his life. They got out of Fremantle jail on bail. Their girlfriend sold their bikes and bought a car with no spare wheel so they could flee the state across the Nullabor Plain

Very nice mountings!

Looking for more, you choosed the PW3, why not going for 920 with SM barrels and your Fullauto's head?

I've got Steve Maney barrels. I really only wanted to clean up the performance and enhance the power characteristics. This bike is used every day. I've done 3500 miles in three months and it's winter here.

920s are notorious for barrel distortion. I needed reliability. It's a very strong motor. Very satisfying.

Do Steve Maney barrels enhance the performance when you use petrol as fuel ? I've often wondered about the effect of heat in that situation. I've found my 850 motor is excellent when run on methanol, however I believe that if I fitted aluminium barrels for lightness , I might experience difficulty in getting enough heat into the motor before riding the bike.

Even Steve Maney 920s barrels?

Good question! I hadn't thought about that! Maybe Jim Comstock can chime in here. I know Ken Canaga had a solution by not recessing the barrel mounting bolts in the barrels but recessing the head itself.

Well, when you do this kind of mod, I believe that it could distort one day or another.

And also boring them without the special tool.

But with those barrels from SM it looks quite stronger, no? Even with the thinner 920's sleeves.

Asked him why only the 850 sleeves were punched, he didn't find time to answer yet.

My guess would be that the thinner sleeves might distort or crack from the force of the punch. Or possibly that their lack of mass compared to the thicket liners make them less likely to expand and contract enough to come loose.

Good input, thanks.

Another question SM didn't have time to answer. Do you think, or know, if it's liners are installed only whit heating barrels or also with cooling liners in argon gas?
