Swoosh,

STS do not do any castings. Not to say that John doesn't know of a good foundry. If it gets to a point where Ken needs to look outside AU and wants to look in the US for someone, then we'll push forward and find the right company to work with.

Do you mean they will not CNC on castings?

Swoosh, I think all the bits are CNC'd from billet

For the starter or the heads?

What I asked is if perhaps if needed and a US based foundry that they could use the people who make the starter stuff to also CNC the cast parts.

yes of course,
and regarding the machining of the ports, I cant see why the heads can not be cast to the required shape.

Swoosh,

I am sure STS could do the finish CNC work on any cast part. They have an amazing machine park to work with. John would of course be the guy to let us know about the process

That said, as Ken mentioned, going outside Australia is probably a last resort and I am sure he will exhaust any options there first

I have just come across this discussion and I hope it resolves on a plus note. You might try Steven at C H Tooling and Engineering at 11 Hercules St Tullamarine Melbourne ph 03 93302050. His workshop is a ten minute walk from the airport. He does a lot of foundry work in ally and magnesium for the bike racers and builders. He recently cast 12 pairs of replica matchless G45 heads in T6 for me. The cost was AU650 a pair. Happy to post photos if it helps. Best of luck.

Thanks Greg,
I'll contact him for a chat. And go for a visit when I hit Melbourne.

Ken, I can attest to both the beauty and functionality of your heads and appreciate your devotion to the Norton cause, best of luck getting things sorted.

Any way I can help just let me know. Thanks, Doug

Hey Doug. There is something you can do. Have you got a Ferrari I can have and a spare million?

Heehee. Thanks for the thought. We're forging ahead!

Casting ahead doesn't seem to have the same ring to it................

If you are looking for a casting facility around Melbourne, you might consider speaking to Richard Simpson at Furnace Engineering. They make most of the aluminium melting furnaces used in Australia and know who is who in casting aluminium.

Ken,

Having just fitted an 850 version No. 152 it was a doddle. Will test it tomorrow weather permitting. The rockers are not fitted as I had not started it to prove oil to the rockers.

Keep those heads coming, they're sure nice.

If you want to hear any of them, I'm hitting Melbourne in the near future and I'll be heading up to Beechworth to catch up with friends. If you want to catch up for a coffee, I can drop in.
