Fuel Pipe ID

Have gone for less bling. Plain ethanol proof rubber was less than half that price, so went with that.

This stuff works amazing, seals by simply pushing on barb fittings, removable, stays pliable for years. I don't know if they distribute it in Europe.
Yes it’s available on Amazon U.K. As is the Motion Pro clear. Good stuff.

In my metric country, good quality US-made rubber fuel pipes are only available in metric dimensions. Though the 6mm pipes I buy has the text 1/4 on them and the 8 mm ones are stamped 5/16.o_O

Brilliant, will give it a go.

Does anyone know what is the most likely ID size, 1/4" or 5/16"? If not, I'll open the crimp, but then I'm probably off the road until until new pipe and clips arrive.
Definitely 1/4". I put some 5/16 OD fuel filters in my line early this year and had to heat the new lines in hot water to get them in.

On my '72 it came new with the H pattern fuel lines... all 5/16". I went to the later (safer) setup and used the "not quite 180" 5/16 double banjos which worked fine along wirh the Motion Pro clear line. Have never seen any 5/16" 180 degree double banjos. Did they use 1/4" 180 banjos when they went to the later fuel line setup? I use the metric fuel line clips from ebay. I'm through with ferrules!

Me too!

I bought lots of ferrules and two different ferrule crimpers and still only had a 50% success rate!

I think if you’re using A standard / specific ferrule on a specific pipe on a specific spigot, then getting the right ferrule and crimpers is doable.

But when you’re botching around with lots of different things on different bikes (like I do), it’s far less easy and reliable.

And cutting off leaking ferrules gets boring fast !

I now use crimp on ‘O’ type clamps / crimps mostly.

1/4" was the normal size for Commandos as far as I know and Amal doesn't make the single banjo in 5/16", only 1/4".

The 1/4" Amal 396/097M is the only single fuel line banjo available from AN.

I have been using Tygon 1/4” I’d for years now with no clamps and have never had a problem. In the U.S. it is available at Napa auto parts. It is very flexible and doesn’t get hard. I have never found any clamps that would work on something that small other than the worm-like.Just my 2 cents. I have seen some thin wire type like I have seen on lawn mowers, etc.but I have never found the need.
