Front wheel reassembling

Wondering if they kept the old look of it by purpose or if they did it on the same lathe with the same cutting tool than 50+ years before? :D

Or someone who never changed the front tyre and is ready to do it know. And make some pictures

I always need another part, but nothing comes to mind except tire.

I ordered a new 400 x 18 Dunlop K70 from Dennis Kirk today for the rear. front still looks new.

Was talking about changing a never changed front tyre to have a chance to see IRL all the parts going on or with the spindle, and their position.

My guess is the original looked better!!

Do you know if this wheel comes from a P11, a P11A, or a P11 Ranger?
P11/P11A. They are identical (very early P11 omitted the cover). Ranger 750 the same except for fins.

My 02-9221 spacer arrived from Baxter Cycle today.
Pretty quick order fill/ship.
Also very satisfying to get obscure vintage Norton parts with just an online order.

02-9221 thickness = 0.130"
02-9221 OD = 1.250"
02-9221 ID = 0.760"
appears zinc plated, beveled ID and OD on one side only.

Gosh. The person who made this didn't master his lathe. Typical signs of resonance (wrong feed and/or rotational speed). Bob Schanz at Domiracer had many Norton parts replicated. Baxter bought a lot of the Domiracer inventory. Machining performed at the AMC factory was in a different league.

And tool sharpening...

Thanks for the size ;-)

Looks like the part Andover sells, just different lighting and background.

Couldn't resist

If anyone has an original piece laying around, maybe they can take a photo and post on here for a quality comparison to the repro.

I would but this part is missing on both my bikes.

I have an original spacer/washer on my P11, but have not chosen to disassemble at this time. I will post data later. I have a new K70 due in tomorrow, so maybe after that change out I can flip the bike and look at revising my front assembly, and get a look at the OEM spacer.

To close all the spitfull tongues, mine first

Here is my front wheel spacer/washer, not that bad after all those years...

And here is my front axle. Could somebody tell me if it's the correct way to put all the washers/spacers and if something is missing?

Except seals, bearings and the central part.

Would also need to know the part number of the two seals on each side of the hub.

One looks to be 02.9263, and the other is???

Beveled spacer (02-9221) goes on the wheel side of the of the machined stop/spacer of the axle, not the axle nut side.
