I looked around on the web and was able to find a photo depicting the wire you're asking about. In the photo you can see that it's welded to the bottom of the fairing bracket, and appears to be for centering the mounting bracket correctly on the frame, or for reducing steering fork travel, or both. The example in the photo has one of the wires snapped off.

These descending heavy gauge wires are not shown in the JPN supplement. Hopefully someone else on the board owns a JPN and can confirm if this is a factory feature.

Thanks. That's not unusual, Photobucket are always changing things around. I will check the instructions.
