You might be able to get it running WITHOUT the battery if the big blue 2MC capacitor still holds a charge and you put a decent battery charger on it, AFTER cleaning the carbs, flushing the gas tank, changing the oil, and maybe popping in a fresh set of plugs. Total cost under $20, and VERY likely possible to do unless the engine is mechanically damaged in some way.

Doing some major tune-up work / maintenance on it and buying a set of tires and a battery could be at a better place for about $300.

Where you go from there could be anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000, and take anywhere from a week to a year to several years.

Several people have inquired as to your mechanical skills; the only thing I can assume from your comment regarding dreaming when you bought it, is that you AREN'T up to the task of doing a refurb or restoration project. So, the $1,000 to $10,000 range would necessarily tend higher rather than lower.

It's your bike, you can do what you want with it. If you bought it as an investment, your best return would be in parts sales. If you care at all about the values associated with preserving classic Brit bike / motorcycle history, you'll at least sell the engine and frame together.

Well then, On The Other Hand, Happyness is a Place to Be, Something to Do and Things to look forward to, If not with the one ya love then love the one ya got. Sp get a taste of the Commando life style of devoted worship rituals. Can run a thin jumper, like lamp cord to get spark though make sure clutch disengages, not stuck or snicking a gear will commit you to testing kill button reflex &/or how effective brakes are. We'd love a video of a the show of course.

THANKS For all your help and input I do have the tools and some skills to get it running if I don't sell, could be I will start a new project. just posted it for sale.
