Had a 100 mile run on the commando today first longish run since i did the primary rebuild. have to say it was very enjoyable apart from a bad case of pulsing front brake lever. i checked the disc when i got home and it appears the pads are catching 50 % of the disc with no brake on. i am going to remove the disc and check how it sits on the hub for starters. failing that i will check the flatness of the disc to hub mating face with a feeler gauge on a faceplate

I bought a new disc from RGM a few years ago which was machined like a fruit bowl (including the mounting flange). In use, It exhibited exactly what you describe.

Another example of how much can go wrong machining.
And, how relying on the vendor to do inspection is flawed.

It is a new disc that came with the bike. I have the old ones as well. They may be going back on . Thanks for the heads up

I documented in depth the issue I had with a RGM floating disc with zero tech support....You can't pay me to buy another product from them.

Unfortunately, RGM has mostly good products at good prices, but they also have junk. Much like Wassell and EMGO. For instance, every Lucas product I get from Wassell today is at least as good and often better than the original, but any Lucas-type product they sell is absolute junk. The EMGO Roaster tanks, IMHO, are better than originals and their handlebars are excellent. Every electrical product of theirs I've ever bought was junk.

I bought these two from RGM and they are very inexpensive at trade prices:
https://www.rgmnorton.co.uk/buy/rocker-spindle-outer-cover-plates-4-stainless-steel_90.htm The fit OK but were poorly finished.

https://www.rgmnorton.co.uk/buy/rocker-spindle-outer-cover-plates-bolts-twins-set-of-8_92.htm The say they are 1/4 BSW which is the correct thread but they were not 1/4 BSW!

I read/heard several horror stories about the RGM floating disks. On the other hand I've sold a few Girling floating disks and have no complaints (haven't installed one myself so far). Girling and Lucas Wassell product lines.

No just std disc
The one I’m referring to was also a std. solid disc. To be fair to RGM, Roger did give me a complete refund (including the shipping costs) and a compensatory sum for my trouble, as I’d had the disc on and off several times to try to fix the issue.

Am I understanding right that it was standard disk from RGM? If so, how ridiculous!
