Farmers Almanac is predicting an early and harsh winter for the Northwest, so I put a dayplate on the Daytona last week and got in a 400 mile ride.
This week I purchased a day plate for the Thruxton ( regular insurance ran out Sept1) and rode it 550 miles yesterday. Just rolled thru 20,000 kms on this bike yesterday.
Both are red Hinckley Triumphs, but the two bikes are night and day. The Thruxton comfortable, quiet, easy to handle at low speed or high speed and has wonderful acceleration from almost any gear, any rev point.
The Daytona is not as comfortable, has mediocre acceleration at lower rpm, insane acceleration from 8-12 k, handling not so great a low speed, handles well when ridden fast, makes a huge and terrific sounding noise.
The Thruxton wins, but I'm hanging onto both. Variety is fun.
