Anyone have a preference?

Locktite? Nyloc? Or standard nuts and washers?

Am leaning toward nyloc as there are a couple hard to reach places once the primary is in place.

I use cad plated originals or OEM replacements as often as possible on resto/furbs, and grade 8 or stainless kits on custom builds, depending on what part of the bike.

How about Matt's ARP mounting kit? Jim

Plus one on Matts ARP kit. Excellent stuff.

Just a simple question; is the ARP the same as we up here call Torx? Or do you have to go and buy yet another set of tools on top of all the different inch sizes and mm and what not?

ARP is American Racing Products. Manufacturer of high quality steel and stainless fasteners.

They are the only manufacturer I know of that makes a stainless bolt capable of holding the tension necessary to keep a Norton engine mounting from moving and causing loose nuts and worn cases. Jim

The nut and bolt heads that you are concerned over are 12 point, also sometimes called double hex. Not the same as Torx splines. Any 12 point box wrench or socket in the correct inch size should fit them. If all you have are 6 point wrenches, then you would indeed have to buy some new tools, but only in a few sizes, not a complete set.

Most of my engine bolts are ex-military aircraft titanium which have been threaded down and shortened. I think the thread is UNF. The rest of the bike is either BSF or metric or Allen screws. It is a nightmare to work on.
