Parking is position 1 . Key Captive. Rarely if ever used.By "position 2" do you mean 'OFF' or the 'Parking lights' key position?
I assume that's not what's supposed to happen with electronic instruments so is a new problem since rebuilding the switch?
Does it have the Canadian model ignition switch and automatic lights on with ignition unit/assimilator although I'm not sure if that is significant when using electronic instruments or not?
Off is position 2. Key removable , not captive.
3 is ignition only , Key captive.
4 is ignition and lights , key captive.
Derek Wilson rewired things a while back without notes to get both Smits E-instruments up and running which I am grateful for seeing as the Smiths instructions suck at best.
I have not had or will have time to explore this as I'm off with the wife to Greece where I'll be renting small motorbikes instead.
Update . Just found a piece of paper in the MK3 manual showing a hand drawn switch drawing :
Position 1 , Brown/blue.
Position 2 ( off ) Double white and , Double white. Harness and indicator lights.
Position 3 , Brown/Blue .
Position 4 , Blue / yellow .
These could refer to the numbers stamped into the brown phenolic plate .
I'm out of time . I'm into my Birthday week celebrations including The War on Drugs show.
E- Bike getting me around for the next few days and Uber.
