going through the new bike, checking it out etc getting to the battery to remove/replace and i found the sidecover was attached with a horrible contraption of allthread. The sidecover is still stock/not modified and im trying to figure out how it is supposed to be attached now. Looks to be a different system than on my 73 but i cant find any diagrams for the early bike just parts lists. Anyone have a pic of how this is supposed to attach?

The two hooks inside the panel hang over a pair of brackets; 060836 Front, 060838 Rear, around $20 each from Andover Norton (where's my fee, ZFD? ) )
Associated grommets 060856, around $2 each, rotolock rubber pad 060857.

And here's what they look like in the (pre-restoration) flesh - one-piece contraptions or what?!

that looks like it would be for the bottom for sure with the receptacle that fits in the battery box and a washer i imagine....hard to decipher the top mounts....reading that link seems like there should be a couple brackets or something..

Hi,
where i can find the retainer clips for the rotorlock.
Andover seems do not supply them.
Ciao.

RGM sell all sorts of different brackets and side panel fixtures, they're on their web site, mostly with pictures of what they look like too.

"thanks! that helps a lot. very odd way to do it.." - Sochiro Honda (upon seeing his first British Motorcycle)

I bought the repo roto lock - hard as a rock, looks cheap. I went with a polished stainless bolt with nylock on the inside, small rubber washer to protect the paint - works like a charm. Keep wrenches in the Fastback tail, only go in there once or twice a season. original isn't always better
The aftermarket hanging hooks are "just" long enough, only about 1/2" engagement with the rubbers - I figure the bolt is holding the sidecover on at times!
