Well, my rear guard was fine too, I got the bike in 72, but in about 77/78 or so I put it in a barn and it stayed there for maybe 20 years which didn't do the chrome any good. Then also at one time I thought a larger rear tire would be nice so I re-drilled the holes to accomodate the tire and ruined it. That's why I put a 72 guard on it. It could probably be reconstituted, but it would be expensive. I bondoed it and painted it metal flake blue. It's sitting in my storage room. It really didn't look too bad with the blue, but I wanted more of an original chrome look.
