When you tune a motorcycle for any form of racing, you need to consider all the variables, because everything interacts. Just changing one variable, often does not achieve much. One of the variables is the type of circuit on which youn use the motorcycle. In that sketch above, it shows a megaphone exhaust. Racing on a tight circuit with that, would be difficult. Also,it would dramatically change the tuning.
Most guys only change one variablle at a time, to try and discover the effect changing it has on performance. You really need to know how the variables interact,
With a drag bike, you are really only doing one thing, so it is a bit easier. With road racing, there are usually several situations on the one circuit. Sometimes you have to choose where you are going to lose a race, and work around it. With my bike, it is usually towards the ends of the longer straights, so the front brake becomes more inportant. I go into corners faster, and I accelerate harder when I am in them. I do not worry about horsepower, because the other guys have always got more. When you accelerate hard through corners, you need smooth power delivery. You do not get that with a megaphone exhaust.
A Command engine is very different in it's responses to tuning when you compare it with others, so with me - I suck it and see.
