Does anyone know how many, if any, SG V4 customers took up Dr Bob’s PX offer ?

Or, does anyone know anyone who did ?

Personally, I thought it was a good offer IF you’re a rider. But I guess if you’re a collector, and many took up Dr Bob’s offer, it may make the SG bikes even rarer and more collectible ?

Isn't it deemed as unrideable though. I wouldn't pay £10K for it unless someone could put the faults right for say £5K max

Sooooo, what is the "all-important Norton Certificate of Newness" it comes with?

I think he is referring to the paperwork that was necessary to register these for the road as they were all out through a special ‘single vehicle type approval‘ process rather than the ‘normal’ way a larger manufacturer would go.

I assume that without such docs, it would be impossible to register.

And beyond Tony !

He seems to have all the paperwork… wonder if he’s got the letter from TVS Norton telling him not to ride and to disconnect the battery ?!

He forgot to include a picture of that one …

Could they legally do that?? As you mentioned earlier, these things went through on single vehicle approval, so can they all be retrospectively be tarred with the same brush??
Not arguing, just asking :)

Can they?

They did !

I’ve no idea ref the legalities. But logically I’d say yes. TVS Norton we’re acting on their belief of known design, material specification and manufacturing flaws. I don’t think the type approval topic has much to do with it.

But did any one listen ?
Good question. That’s kinda why I asked if anyone had taken up the PX offer.

I wouldn’t want to ride one. I would have thought there were all sorts of potential legal issues is you ignore written advice like that ?

Can’t imagine the insurance coughing up if the frame breaks and throws you down the road?

Does anyone know the legal standpoints for this? Or would it be a case of defining the legalities by going through the process ?

It's a shame all the 'human rights' lawyers are tied up elsewhere. Had I have coughed up £44k I might have argued that as TVS didn't manufacture the thing, why should I heed their notice?? It was sold to me for riding, so ride it I shall!
Sour grapes from TVS perhaps 'cos mine's faster than theirs :)

(That last bit WAS a humour attempt, BTW)

Yup, I get that.

But what happens when you win the case, ride the bike, and the frame breaks in half ?!?

Sweep up the bits and stick 'em in a featherbed frame...
Make a 'proper' Norton......
(Assuming I survived)
Seriously (!) though, given the publicity surrounding this issue, whilst I'd happily risk my own neck, the possibility of wiping out a bus queue might temper the desire to ride it.....

Mind you, be no worse off than this guy :)

I think you gotta assume that if there is a gent with the cash, and willing to pay the price, then he has to also have thought this through already.
Remember, the customer is always right.
