I was given a 3-phase podtronics and I want to fit it to a single phase alternator. I think all I have to do is clip off one of the yellow wires, correct?

Don’t clip it off completely and you’ll have a spare phase should you ever need it.

Yep I've done it with a podtronics
Also with a Honda reg/rec ,just isolate the spare wire
