Dominator deluxe 99 '62

Modern synthetic oils are great products and can provide superior protection . I have run a 99 on fully synth 10 /40 for a couple of years . I would not recommend it though . A 20/50 is a better bet as it will provide good start up protection and oil consumption. If you can get it in fully synthetic even better (not in the chaincase or gear box). The Edge oil you show is far too thin ,will make for a clattery engine ,oil burning, burnt valves and leaks. Box properly assembled does not leak . Sump plug with new washer ,properly tightened will not leak. Other leaks may look like sump leak. Box use ep oil. primary ATF type F (old ford type). good for chain and clutch . The 3 oils will appear diferent in leaks and help find the issue.

Thanks Bob that's a helpful explanation which was roughly where my mind was at.
I've found a good local service shop who's going to take a look as first ride revealed a couple of issues. Engine oil leaking from the head and wouldn't tick over without the air flap lever being on about half way. Maybe a blocked pilot jet. Full smelt a bit manky so filled it while I was out. Front brake was a bit of judder too.

Hi TT. I have never had a filter on any of my bikes and not had any issues at all. I then got a 650 with one and its not been out as i cant access the tight primary chain adjuster , I dont trust the device as i have seen them eject the spigot fixings and drown the tyre with oil. Not interested in grovelling around under the bike either.

If you can’t change the filter, you’d better bypass it.
