Re: differences from Atlas, P11, and early Commando timing c
I believe that the oil gallery that we are discussing in the commando's go's to the return line [crankcase side] as previously stated my February 69 had a threaded plug in this gallery and am fairly sure that the cover in the top picture was the one that came fitted to the fastback, it has a gallery drilled at approx. 12 o'clock that appears to allow the pressure relief valve to vent into the timing chest, possibly this was the earlier method?.
I have previously owned 2 Atlas and a P11 Ranger and currently own a 650SS and these all had the tacho drive mounted vertical though these were all later models 66-69
though I have seen photo's of a Manxman with the drive on an angle, so possibly this may have been used in the early 60's?
