needing: Thanks for the possible seal numbers. I looked at the Timken pdf you posted, had no idea there were so many kinds of seals. Looks like it will take much research to find the right one since I don't know anything about seals.

Since I have 2 "normal" seals that I cannot use, I am offering to give them away to anyone who needs one.
Just pm me with your snail mail address and I will send you one free of change (US only).

Hi mightydaj.
When you have the Timken pdf open, press 'control' and 'f', type the seal code then press 'enter' and the page the seal code is on will be highlighted. I think the 330414 may be your best match. Hope this helps.
Ta.

Thanks again needing I measured more accurately with a digital caliper and that seal (330414) does look like it should fit.

I still wanted to find out about the modification and remembered that the PO had the anti-wet sumping mod done to the timing cover.
AMR of Tuson (www.amr-tucson.com) also does a gear box cover mod and I emailed Mike there and found out that my cover most likely was modified by them.
They use the MK3 kickstart shaft seal. So I am going to get one of those to do the fix and hopefully it will be leak free for another 20 years.

Also I still have the 2 "normal" seals to give away if anyone wants them.
