No you have them backwards
Thanks. Looking at the diagram in the parts book it also looks like the concave on the thick insert is toward the rim.

I think the idea is that the thick part takes the loads when the chain is driving the wheel, the thin part does the job when the throttle is closed, using engine braking.

Thanks Steve. . Agreed. Only confused on the intention of the concave side.

I ordered inserts some years ago and found not much "cush" in them, seemed to me like they were some plastic or nylon.
Decided to fit Mk3 inserts, cut to size, they are rubber.

Hi Steve's
I've seen a disc rear wheel spoked 18 inch but I can't remember what the he'll it was off. I've fitted Honda 350K4 drum hub as it lined up! & has a good cheap cush system. Had to machine up 520 sprockets & a spacer as they were thinner. I will rack my brains.

Are you looking at the second photo of the hub? Or the first photo
The first photo is the one we are talking about
I am going to run with as in photo #2. It kind of shows in manual and parts book.

Thanks Chris. I actually have a 350 Honda rear hub under the bench, but it's a bit of a dog, looks as if it's been left under a bog for a couple of decades
I'm toying with the idea of using the Yamaha wheel and mounting the sprocket on some metalastic type bushes to give a bit of cush, but I need to devise a way of keeping it stable.
Mind you, I'm not looking at using the bike for many thousands of km, so in the Real World, it probably makes bugger all difference - the gearbox may well outlast me!
