Cross Canada on the Bonnie

Quite by chance, while figuring my route to next campsite, came across a place on map called Rouleau and thought that rings a bell! This is where the Corner Gas series was shot. Had to stop in to check it out:


A local told me the actual main set was torn down by the network owners for fear of liability issues since it was a big attraction. What a shame for this 1000 person town.

This where I took Griso today .... world’s highest tide was just starting to turn .... Cafe on beach was serving 4hr fresh flounder ... Parrsboro NS around noon today 1hr coastal ride from my place ....

now just stop showing us pictures of one of my all time best visit.... i can taste the fish now and thats just not fair.

No I live in the S.E of Queensland, Brisbane the whole of the East coast of Australia is devided by the Great Divider Range before we get to the flat part of Aussie, but loving your reports and pics, if you want to see some big tides then you should come over here and vist Broome West Australia, I have never been there myself but one day.
Hows the Triumph going, I don't think you will have any problems at all with it.
Looks like you are having a great time and some great weather, its our winter here and the weather is great as well.

Well yesterday was great, up until the last hour. Was aiming for a provincial campground SW of Regina after my Rouleau stop. Came to a First Nations resort with camping place so gave it look. Could not find the campsite and was getting too tried and dehydrated. Stopped back at gate to ask and before I could get ss down bike fell over! First time I've had that happen. Was thinking the worst as went to right the bike. The Bonnevilles are highly vulnerable to left side tips as the shifter arm takes quite a torque loading and can bend the shifter rod within the casing. Was happy to find the was ok. The tank also had no contact anywhere. The left mirror stalk was turned and headlight bracket a wee bit askew. . Clutch lever also highly vulnerable but I had swapped oems to flip up style and think this saved it mostly. Some scraping and the length slider damaged a bit it. However the front turn lamp lens shattered to bits. LED panel board within looked fine and still lights up (white so not strictly legal now). Will see if some amber repair tape will hold or find a triumph dealer on route.
Anyway after myself sorted decided to press on to my original site further up the road. Very strong side gusting all the 10km there. But this turned out to be a better place as drinkable water on tap next to my site and plumbed wash rooms! Luxury ! Was right next to three bikers on big BMW adventure tourers doing Iowa to Alaska.
Anyway it's all good save for the busted lamp. I'll see if I can rig some amber repair tape over it or locate a Triumph dealer along route.

Sounds like quite a day , no fun when you push on after you have had enough .... maybe use a couple or 3 zip ties on you turn indicator as a frame and then wrap the amber tape over them .... just a thought , tomorrow will be even better , have a hoot !

Discovered the naked LED array board is in fact amber when and does look kinds cool. But will be a protective cover regardless. I'm outside Winnipeg tonight. Officially past halfway mark to Ottawa. Blew thru Manitoba in one day as I'm just a miles from Ontario.

Check out Falcon Lake , UFO site really nice park like setting on a lake , I got Manitoba in less than a day at high rate with Duc on big hywy as just wanted off the flat land ....

Yes, with LEDs the color of the bulb needs to match the lens.

Watch the fatigue. It's far better to get there in one piece.

Just arrived in Thunder Bay ON. Had a wet night camping with trying to time stove work for dinner between down pours while fighting off the mossies. This morning breaking camp, they were so desperate were swarming all over the bike !

Yesterday met a young lad coming from PEI on a Yammy Bolt heading home to AB. Also moto camping but appeared to only have a bout 1/3 the amount of gear I am carrying ?
Then today a fill up met a bloke coming from Quebec on a full faired sport bike with three hard cases. He was headed to Vancouver Island. I warned him about Manitoba and Sask cross winds. He didn't think his windshield was upto it then he saw mine was only half his size.

Hope to be a few more hrs East of here before stopping for night. Shot is The Sleep Giant off TB.

Yeah. We're awaiting more news. Have you seen Dudley Doright & Nell Pureheart yet? I got a hoot outta that toon when I was young.

Had little access to net yesterday. Camped at White Sands prov park SE of Thunder Bay. Would've gone to Rossport prov park as sites right on superior shores but all booked up. Had to make a food run to little village of Schreiber but all shops closed Sunday evening. The gas station chip wagon sold me a couple of uncooked smokies and buns for $5 to take back to cook on my campfire.

Stopped in at Wawa visitor center (pic of the Wawa goose) and learned that some of the best scenic views were just south along Superior coastline to Sault Ste Marie (that's pronounced Sue Saint Marie for those non canucks outer there). I had planned to head East at Wawa to reach Timmons tonight but the visitor site staff showed the southern route actually cuts an hour off total time to Ottawa along highway 17. Glad I did as was some great riding. Cold though. Heated liner on all day. Now at a Lake Huron beach front motel for night in little place called Thessalon. Some 650+ km from Ottawa. Not sure can do it all tomorrow.

Made it. 650km from 8am-6pm. Was quite rainy most of morning until I reached Sudbury. First significant rain on the whole ride. Didn't see much on this day for photo ops. Lots of trees and many construction stops. Had a clip start to fail on my Wolfman Beta soft pack. One which I needed since very tight each day. A fuel station operated me a stack of zip ties and that sorted it rest of day. Ran the TomTom Go app on my phone while whole trip. Was pretty good. Liked the simple clear view while riding along. No unneeded details. I paid for the one month North American map for $8.99. Was quite easy to set up each days routing. Liked the fuel station coming up display. Really made things less stressful on those long rural stretches. Here's a sunset shot at motel lastnight on Superior shore.
