Well third time lucky. Crankshaft is spinning freely now. I checked all of the things that were suggested and they seemed to be okay. Maybe I just had the case wedged a bit sideways during install. On the upside the build continues...thanks for all of the trouble shooting tips.

Great news!
By the way, if you have the clutch in pieces, you may want to increase the size of the holes in the outside of the centre hub. I think there are 4 or 5 sets of three. I think @Stu Bodycote increases them by 1mm. It aids oil getting onto the clutch plates.

Actually I lied, there are only three sets of three holes, which are adjacent to every other pillar. If you are on Facebook you can see the thread here…
