Has anyone actually used this type of seat? I'll be most interested to see a photo of it on abike and to hear reports of how comfy (or otherwise) it is before buying it.

Possibly, it looks the same, but due to Brixit, its rather cheaper to buy from http://www.petersclassicbikeparts.nl/ just outside Rotterdam. Theres several dealers who show this style of seat, so presumably its from the same source.
I do notice though that there seems to be a general shortage of non- MkIII Roadster seats. The few places that do have Stock are pricing seats at around 200-220 pounds, while those places out of stock often are around 115- 120 pounds.
I suspect the new stock seats will be around the200-220 pound mark when they arrive
