Combat Amal carb setup

Sure any combat will "run down the road"even if jetted fat as a pig. If you don't run wide open than you can go almost 65-70 with the main jet missing...
The 3 cutaway is pretty important for low-mid throttle tractibility.
The premier 17-19 debate for idle AND low throttle is very important as to how the engine responds in bleed or feed mode.
My 47RWHP combat runs fine within the 200 area like bill's.
added: the 30mm vs 32mm carb might end up being a bigger issue.

240 mains
3 slide
needle shimmed tween top and middle slot
106 needle jet
17 pilot

But, this is with a Web 312, so not really a combat anymore

I find with mine if i bump it up to a 200 it will 8 stroke on the main. This is also with the stock air box

It may come down to a fuel level (wake up)difference which is the only thing not discussed at all by anyone! yet tremendously important. That is why this discussion is fairly useless....I run the stock air cleaner also. Sorry if you're stuck in float level mode

To be clear, for my Combat, I run new Amal Premier carbs and Tri-Spark ignition:

Main Jet: 220
Needle Jet: 106
Throttle Valve: 3
Needle: Standard
Needle Position: 2
Pilot Jet: 17
Spray Bar: Standard

I have no where to ride full throttle so I'm not sure, but I would most likely change to a 230 main jet if I did ride wide open or nearly so.

The only gas available here is E10.
Thanks Greg,
This is what I’m looking for.
