I had a good friend bought a brand new '70 or '71 Commando that was the green fireflake. I recall all the colors on that 1971 color chart on Roadsters except the BRG, but clearly they must have been out there. Off topic, but does anyone recall seeing a two tone fastback in metalflake silver and candy apple red? I saw exactly one somewhere in Nova Scotia while on a bike trip. It was probably the summer of 1969 or maybe 1970....I don't think I've ever seen Emerald Green Fireflake on anything.
yep that's a thing( probably a restored bike so do not take it to be absolutely correct )I had a good friend bought a brand new '70 or '71 Commando that was the green fireflake. As a corollary to the original post, has any one ever seen an original BRG Commando that was not a fastback?

I buddy of mine has one like this. VERY original.

The two-tone finish is correct though few Norton enthusiasts these days know this finish was optional for the year and think it is a "custom paintjob".
Can't remember where I saw it. We spent most of our time around Wolfville visiting friends. Walked over to an island at low tide and...oh wait, way off topic.Rick , interesting you where up here in NS during the great Norton years , I don’t recall the two-tone fastback , at that time I thought I knew most of the Norton’s around .....
As I remember from my short time at N-V, all the first couple of years output were fastbacks.
The first 200 or so didn't have the recess in the gas tank for the traditional Norton badge, because that idiotic PR outfit had switched to their "green blob" logo.
They had even been eliminated from all the die-cast covers.
