Can anyone tell me where I can purchase chrome plated brass slides for AMAL carbs.
Never had any experience of plain brass or any slide other than std. but since I fitted new bodies in March and added Chr brass slides I've put 550 miles on them and just over three Roadster tankfuls. Couldn't believe it but each 11 litre fill takes me 170 miles so I am getting close on 70 mpg (Imp). The old carbs even when new never reached better than 62 and that was with lots of easy running. The bodies are from new Burlen tooling and other than replacing the needle jets and fitting chromed slides the only difference is the way I ran in new rings. I went for the hard break-in first 100 miles and have run it harder since then. Time will tell if the rings and bores last but it didn't use any oil.I am, as usual, missing something.
I think I'd prefer unchromed brass slides

I think this is different than his previous URL.
I had a set of carbs done by Bruce also and they have been fine. I cannot say enough good things about his work.
