Cam Timing Information Request

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone might have cam timing data for my 88. I'm informed that the cam profile is effectively A65 and the motor runs A65 radiused followers in bronze blocks in place of the standard Norton followers. I have been told that this modification was popular for race engines and was termed the 'Dickinson cam'.
Anyway, any information would be gratefully received, thanks.

Hi, as far as I am aware, Lloyd Dickinson lives in Scunthorpe, I would try to contact him. I do not know him but once bought some unbreakable TZ clutch plates by mail order from him, which really didn’t break,

Hope it helps, Martin

Hi I am sorry I can‘t remember very well the details but, if my memory serves me well, it was not the steel plates but always the two rear friction plates which broke, after fitting Dickinson plates I had no more breakages.

Thank you all very much for the information. The plan I have decided on is to map the profiles of the cam by building a jig I can mount it in and use the followers to achieve a relatively accurate view. Then I'll compare the profile to the maps I have. I'm guessing that I can establish the cam's position in the centre of it's maximum lift and work back from that. Just to flesh out the story of how I came to have no base settings... I was told the engine was running the relatively common SS cam. The engine is a race motor from my Domiracer replica and after a hard couple of seasons of being campaigned with some success was in need of a rebuild. I found the cam nut to be loose as I dismantled the motor and simply removed the Vernier sprocket and chain before the barrels. It was only when I lifted the barrels and discovered the A65 followers I realised I was dealing with an unusual cam. Anyway, the rebuild stalled at this point due to work and a lack of information. It was only when I showed the cam to my friend Pete Lovell that he said he thought it might be a Dickenson A65 or a Triumph profile which were both popular back in the day. I'd like to keep running the cam as it seemed to work quite well when I ran the bike at Cadwell. I'd love to get in contact with Lloyd Dickinson if anyone has any contact info. Of course I'll have a look on the web but I imagine he's retired now.
I have learned an important lesson from this, never assume that you know what's in your engine if you've never looked inside! :)

Hi I am sorry I do not have the contact information any more, but I am sure somebody will have, as LD seems still very active in CRMC even now. Here he is with his Manx Commando.

Best of luck I hope you can find him and he can help you.

Could you post a photo of your Domiracer replica please?

Wow, great video, lovely sounding bike. I have found him on facebook but unfortunately I don't do FB and can't message him without an account. My partner does the FB thing so might try to get in touch that way. The Domiracer replica is the bike I'm riding in my profile picture and is reasonably faithful rolling chassis wise. The frame was built by Terry Meads and the tanks and seat are good replicas. The motor runs 1 1/8" monoblocs, the cam I've explained the situation so far. The brakes are Manx TLS front and a late 60's rear. At the moment the frame and tanks are in my spare bedroom freshly polished and powder coated and the motor is in pieces on the bench. I'm hoping to get the bike back together, work not withstanding, by April. I have an SS crank hopefully on it's way and need to sort out a 5 speed gearbox when I can afford it. Considering it's racing career the bike is in very good condition and apart from the engine it's just a time consuming cosmetic tidy up.
I'll have to read up on how to post pictures on the forum and pop a couple up before the rebuild started but bear with me on that.
